What is Hatha Yoga?

Hatha is an old system of yoga that includes the practice of asanas (yoga postures) and pranayama (yoga breathing exercises), which help bring peace to the mind and body, preparing the body for deeper spiritual practices such as meditation. Pranayama, literally the "science of breathing" or "control of life force," is the yogic practice of breathing correctly and deeply. Asanas, or physical postures, help bring about flexibility, balance and strength in the body.
